Tara Hilby has been teaching music in Tucson since 1984. Currently she teaches private trumpet lessons (beginning and intermediate from ages 8 to 80!) and has also started teaching beginning trombone and baritone lessons. Lesson fees are $20 per half hour, $30 per 45 minutes and $40 for an hour.

Most students come to Beaver’s Band Box, which is at Broadway and Swan, once a week for a 30-minute lesson. There she has a small studio and access to lesson/band books and rental or purchase instruments.

With the rental or purchase of an instrument from Beaver’s Band Box, Beaver’s gives coupons for 2 free private lessons. This is a great way to see if you want to take private lessons and a wonderful opportunity for the younger students starting school band to gain a little more experience on the instrument when band rehearsals begin.

Tara was a music teacher in the Sunnyside School District for 13 years where she taught K-6 general music and beginning band and orchestra. After taking a years’ leave of absence she decided to teach only privately at Beaver’s Band Box where she has been teaching for the past 14 years! (Wow, has it been that long?)
